Burton Green Parish Council Accounts
The administration of the Parish Council accounts is governed by statute and the Parish Council’s Financial Regulations which are reviewed annually by the Council. The financial year for the Parish Council runs from April to March and the budget is set annually in December, following which the Council submits its Precept request to Warwick District Council.
The Parish Council receives and approves a Financial Report at each meeting. The Financial Report includes all items of expenditure for approval and details of the spend against budget - the reports can be viewed below. Councillors also receive a bank reconciliation every quarter and the Internal Controls Councillor carries out a series of checks on the accounts every quarter.
In January 2025 the Council established a Finance & General Purposes Committee (F&GP Committee) with delegated powers to make decisions on behalf of the Council about any matters relating to management of the Council’s financial affairs and any matters relating to the safe custody, upkeep and improvement of all assets in the ownership of the Council. The F&GP Committee will meet prior to every Full Council meeting. Click here to view the Terms of Reference of the committee.
The next meeting of the Finance & General Purposes Committee will be on Monday 17th November, 7.00pm in the Tacon Room at Burton Green Village Hall, all are welcome. The agenda will be published here at least 3 working days before the meeting.

At the end of each financial year the Council’s accounts are audited by an internal auditor appointed by Council and if expenditure or income is over £25,000 that year then the accounts are also audited by an external auditor appointed by the Government (Moore UK from April 2023).

Community Infrastructure Levy
The Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) is a levy which allows local authorities to fund infrastructure by charging on new development in their area - for more information on the levy click here. Parish Councils receive a proportion of all the CIL receipts arising in their area (15%-25%).
When a Town or Parish Council has received CIL funding, an annual spending report is required:

Assets and Ownership
On the 21st September 2016 Burton Green Parish Council purchased the Red Lane Playing Field from Warwick District Council for a nominal fee of £1. The small playground contains play equipment including swings, a slider frame and a bouncer and it also has a couple of picnic tables.
