RED LANE PLAY AREA

We are pleased to announce that the new Red Lane play area is now open and ready for visitors.

The Parish Council would like to thank everyone who has helped make this possible, from those who filled in our online survey, the members of the School Council, the Play Area Working Group and the nearby Red Lane residents who have coped with the disruption over the past 8 weeks.

This project has been fully funded by Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) contributions that the Council received from Warwick District Council relating to the housing developments in the Parish. We hope that it will provide fun for residents for many years to come.

Please be aware that there is no parking at the play area - please park on the main road.

This design meets the key requirements that we gathered from the residents’ online survey in 2024 and the feedback we received from members of the School Council. The design makes the most of the available space, providing activities for toddlers, pre-schoolers and primary aged children. There are two distinct but interconnected zones that provide a range of age-appropriate challenges and play experiences: the younger zone has a multiplay unit with two gentle slides, a multiuser seesaw, a springer and other pieces of equipment that provide opportunities for young children to play independently. The junior zone contains a multiplay unit with a climbing wall, monkey bars, a double width slide and a fireman’s pole, and the nearby basket swing and 2.4 meter spinning climbing net will provide further opportunities for challenging play.

It is important to the Council that every young child feels that there is something in the play area for them; much of the equipment has been designed to be accessible, the colour scheme has been chosen to support users with visual impairments and the wetpour surfacing makes it easy for children and their adults to move around safely.
