From HS2:
To facilitate ground investigation (GI) for final design of permanent works, we will be digging trial holes and undertaking survey works on Hodgetts Lane, Burton Green. GI is the examination and study of the soil, rocks and groundwater below the surface. These GI show information and data about the existing ground conditions, which will enable the new railway to be safely and economically constructed. Trial hole, which is digging of a trial pit or trench, is one of the methods that are used to obtain ground conditions. To carry out these works safely we will be closing a section of Hodgetts Lane. Hodgetts Lane will be closed from 5 December 2022 to 9 December 2022 between 9am and 3pm and 10 December 2022 8am to 1pm if required, to minimise disruption to peak traffic. A full diversion will be in place. Access to all properties will be maintained. Our workforce maybe on site one hour before and one hour after to set up and secure our equipment. https://www.hs2.org.uk/work-items/notice-of-road-closure-hodgetts-lane-burton-green-3/ Residents of Warwick District can earn rewards and win prizes for tracking their active and sustainable travel when moving about the District.
The Choose How You Move in Warwick District challenge, in partnership with BetterPoints, is completely free to join and participate in, and aims to encourage residents across the district to get active and choose a sustainable means of travel when out and about anywhere in the district - whether in their local area or when visiting and supporting the town centres. Participants earn ‘BetterPoints’ for each sustainable journey they make, which can be converted to high street vouchers to redeem in their favourite big name or independent shops such as Smithery, Torry’s Hardware, Zero Store or Bread & Co. Alternatively, points can be donated to a range of charities including Warwickshire Pride and The Myton Hospices. The challenge has been running since January 2021 and was recently extended to August 2023 due to its success. Over 1,100 people have frequently used the app to track over half a million miles of sustainable travel, saving 71 tonnes in carbon emissions. 6.4 million BetterPoints have been earned so far, worth over £6,400 in redeemable vouchers. The challenge is delivered by Warwick District Council in partnership with BetterPoints, an award-winning behaviour change app. The initiative complements the District Council’s aims to encourage active communities, improve air quality, and support town centres and the local economy. Users of the BetterPoints app also benefit from a boost to their health and fitness by monitoring their levels of physical activity through the app. The challenge consists of locally focused campaigns like prizes and boosted rewards for green and healthy travel, plus special events such as TravelWise Week, during which Laura Quirke from Leamington Spa won the top prize of a European city break. Users will soon be able to exchange their BetterPoints for vouchers at Warwick District Markets operated by CJ’s Events Warwickshire, plus there will be £300's worth of prize vouchers for the markets between now and Christmas. To start earning rewards, residents just need to download the BetterPoints app from the App Store or Google Play, register and join the program. |
