Red Lane is due to be closed from Hob Lane to Birmingham Road between the hours of 9:30am - 3pm from Monday 4th September to Friday 8th. The closure is to safely enable drainage works, carriageway patching and associated works.
Access & Diversion: An alternative route will be signed and is available via: Cromwell Lane, Hodgetts Lane, Waste Lane, Kelsey Lane, A452 (Kenilworth Road, Birmingham Road) and vice versa. Access/Egress to be maintained where possible to businesses and residents only. Dozens of buildings in Warwick district, some of which are not normally accessible to the public will be opening their doors for Heritage Open Days. This year’s event, which is part of England’s largest festival of history and culture runs from 8 to 17 September with more than forty events, openings and tours taking place.
Highlights this year include an opportunity to visit the oldest tennis club in the world, discover a hidden gem at Guy’s Cliffe Walled Garden or to join one or more of a variety of themed guided walks around Leamington, Warwick and Kenilworth. Many of the district’s churches will also be open with volunteers on hand to show visitors around their stunning interiors designed by the leading architects and artists of the day. Other local attractions including Packwood House, Baddesley Clinton, Hill Close Gardens and Bagot’s Castle will be offering free admission at limited times during the festival. Amongst the historic venues taking part is the Lord Leycester in Warwick with visitors able to book a free tour of the beautiful 900-year-old buildings following its multi-million-pound renovation. A guide listing all the venues taking part and opening times is available from libraries and visitor information centres. Further information is available on the Heritage Open Days and Warwick District Council websites. Following the announcement that archaeological investigations are continuing in Abbey Fields, Warwick District Council is pleased to confirm that the children’s play area in the park has been reopened for the summer holidays.
The play area has been open at weekends only during the demolition and was initially planned to remain that way until construction had been completed, but with demolition and building work slowed by the discovery of medieval remains on the site, contractors AR Demolition are now able to provide access to the play area during the summer period. There may be periods when access to the play area will be closed to ensure the safe passage of construction vehicles and material. The Council will endeavour to provide updates on its social media channels whenever such closures will last longer than a few minutes. Further updates will be provided once work commences on site and the play area returns to weekend only opening until the end of the construction. Warwickshire Road Safety Partnership is encouraging bikers to sign up for FREE BikeSafe motorcycle skills training.#
Bikers can get instant access to the training that can be used either as a skills refresher for more experienced bikers, to help identify potential gaps in your knowledge if you haven’t had much training, or to provide a good overview of the skills needed for newer bikers. As well as hazard awareness, the training covers corners and overtaking, junctions, and filtering. Those who complete the training will also be entered into a FREE prize draw to win biker related goodies. For those who prefer to learn face to face, there are a few remaining spaces available on BikeSafe at Leek Wootton in Warwickshire on 1, 8 and 15 October.
